Environmental degradation is the deterioration of the environment through depletion of natural resources. It is caused by a variety of factors, ranging from human activities to natural disasters, and its effects can be devastating. Environmental degradation is an increasingly pressing issue that affects Teso sub region in Eastern Uganda.

People living in poverty often experience hunger and food insecurity, which leads to over-exploitation of natural resources. Poverty in Teso also affects environmental degradation as people lack the resources to invest in sustainable practices. Due to poverty people in Teso are more likely to engage in activities that are harmful to the environment, such as burning wood for fuel. In many rural areas of Teso, people rely on the environment for their livelihood. Environmental degradation is a major contributor to poverty, the reason our projects seek to fight it.
